During the beginning of 2009 I was tasked with the sourcing of a reliable and professional removals firm who could offer Coomber with a complete relocation service to include office accommodation, stock / work in progress and plant machinery.
This was our first move in over 30 years and it was clear that we had out grown our current premises.
We were moving from an old 14,500 sq ft warehouse that had been adapted and modified considerably as our business grew which resulted in every possible area, including storage containers in the yard, being occupied to full capacity.
Our new state of the art premises consisted of 2 storey office accommodations with in excess of 32,000 sq ft of warehouse & workshops which was a clear indication on how tight and compact our previous location was.
Having contacted a number of removal firms across the Midlands who could offer a complete turn-key service, we entered into the usual Tendering Process to select our chosen contractor and we awarded the contract to BCL. The contract was not placed solely on price alone as indeed we received cheaper quotations throughout the process, but it was clear that BCL stood out from the rest by the quality of their Tender with which we received a comprehensive solution to all our requirements of which we had many.
Upon confirmation of the order, BCL’s Account Manager, Kevin Dorn acted straight away and proceeded with the Pre Move Planning and listened in depth to our personal predicaments with building works, business commitments and tight time schedules.
BCL provided what can only be described as a complete methodical and realistic schedule to include all our move requirements which worked alongside and mirrored our build schedule. This schedule was the foundations of our “Trouble Free Move”.
Prior to the move, BCL introduced our dedicated Move Manager, Ian Berry, who liaised with our departments and took full control of all our requirements and more…
Our move was to be completed over a 5 week period during July and August 2009 and consisted of 3 Phases.
Phase 1 including the sequential transportation of all our heavy plant machinery which had to be moved within a specific order around production and space implications. BCL’s Heavy Lifting Team completed all moves on time, within schedule and safely repositioned all machinery in accordance with our floor plans first time with precise accuracy.
Phase 2 included the relocation of all our office accommodation which included the packing and unpacking of IT / Server equipment, all furniture, archive records and associated paperwork. BCL provided packing crates in advance as agreed within the schedule of which we are please to confirm were managed so accurately that we suffered zero loss. Once again this move was completed within a specific timescale around our business needs and was executed with sheer professionalism.
Phase 3 involved the relocation of all our factory stock and work in progress which to us was a mammoth task. Once again due to business commitments this could not be completed within one hit and needed to be moved in parallel with the rest of the move. BCL provided us with a complete schedule which included contingences and ad hoc requirements which they fulfilled without question. Even when our personal circumstance changed which resulting us in having to move the goalposts, BCL were understanding, and met our every requirement.
I can highly recommend BCL for any relocation project, no matter what size. My Directors and I were indeed indebted to their professionalism before, during and even after our relocation process which can be a traumatic experience for any business but helped considerably by BCL and their dedicated Team, especially Kevin Dorn (Account Manager) and Ian Berry (Move Manager).
